There was a Public Hearing on Monday, August 12th to discuss the proposed changes to the Livestock definition and ordinance. Specifics regarding these changes can be heard on the recording of the Plan Commission meeting of August 12, 2024 and July 1, 2024. You can also listen to the discussion on the recording of the October 2, 2023 meeting where they come up with the idea of special use.
Multiple residents have spoken in favor of expanding the livestock definition at regular Plan Commission meetings, and yet, the Plan Commission was leaning towards restricting livestock because they believe the Village of Wayne is entirely a residential community. We have multiple working, agricultural properties in Wayne as well as homesteads. The members of the Plan Commission do not do research, do not use facts or statistics to make decisions. They choose to impose their will on the people and did not do what the people requested. They chose to not change the ordinance and did not send anything to the village board for consideration.
